Hand & Stone Partners with Pittsburgh Technical College

Hand & Stone is a proud partner with over 75 massage and esthetics schools across the U.S. through our National School Partnership Program. This program encourages our spas to build direct relationships with our partners and work with them individually in the ways that can most benefit these schools – such as teaching a CE class, volunteering for an event, joining a committee, etc. It also offers guaranteed interviews at any of our 500 + locations to any of its students or alumni through the Education Portal on our careers site.

April School Spotlight: Pittsburgh Technical College

This month we spoke with Natalie Daffinee, the Social Media Marketing Manager, at Pittsburgh Technical College, who helped us gather quotes and information from their campus leaders and instructors. They have been a partnered school with Hand & Stone since July 14, 2017!

Can you tell us a little bit about your school and its focus?

The mission of Pittsburgh Technical College, as a degree-granting institution, is to empower its students to succeed in today’s dynamic world by integrating general studies and professional skills into a sound career-focused education necessary for students to realize their full potential and career goals.

What you get with our program:

PTC’s Therapeutic Massage Practitioner Program is 900 hours, which meets the state education requirements for OH, WV, and PA. The focus of our program is to give students the knowledge they need to pass the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx) and the hands-on skills that will make them marketable in their careers.

Our students learn a variety of modalities including:

  • Swedish
  • hot stone
  • pregnancy
  • cancer massage
  • deep tissue
  • clinical massage
  • and more!

In what ways do Hand &Stone locations close to you support your school and its students?

The local H&S locations host our students for job shadowing, mock interviews, and other opportunities where our students can experience a day in the life of a massage therapist.

What made your founders interested in massage education?

Our leaders recognized that massage businesses were popping up quickly across the Pittsburgh region. At the time, there were only a few massage schools in the area that could meet the growing demand. As a technical college focused on career success, PTC was well-suited for a massage program at the time and continues to be a leader in the area for massage education.

When is your next enrollment event?

Our next Open House is Thursday, May 18th but our doors are always open! Students and supporters can stop by on weekdays during regular business hours to talk with an enrollment coordinator, take a tour, and meet faculty members. You can book an appointment on our website: //ptcollege.edu/admission/visit..

Is there something you’d like to highlight about your campus?

Pittsburgh Technical College (formerly Pittsburgh Technical Institute) is a nonprofit academic institution with a vibrant, active campus community that sits on top of a picturesque hill in Robinson, 11 miles from downtown Pittsburgh. It’s a stimulating and fun place to learn, visit, and meet your future colleagues. While you’re working hard here, you’ll also have fun here!

Thank you, Natalie, for taking the time to chat with us and for your continuing support and contribution to Hand & Stone’s exceptional team of professional massage therapists!
