Hand & Stone is a proud partner with over 75 massage and esthetics schools across the U.S through our National School Partnership Program. This program encourages our spas to build direct relationships with our partners and work with them individually in the ways that can most benefit these schools – such as teaching a CE class, volunteering for an event, joining a committee, etc. It also offers guaranteed interviews at any of our 500 + locations to any of its students or alumni through the Education Portal on our careers site.

March’s School Spotlight: Lancaster School of Cosmetology & Therapeutic Bodywork

This month we talked to Debbie A. Dunn, President of The Lancaster School of Cosmetology & Therapeutic Bodywork. They have been a partnered school with Hand & Stone since March 20, 2019.

Can you tell us a little bit about your school and its focus?

The field of Massage Therapy is opening new doors of opportunity to members of the spa profession. Therapists with comprehensive training such as the one we offer, are applying their skills to assist clients in managing stress, maintaining wellness, and recovering from injuries.  Massage Therapy offers the opportunity for an independent flexible career, working as part of a health-care or wellness organization, a spa, or in your own private practice.

What you get with our program:

  • Swedish, chair, warm stone, deep tissue, sports, pre-natal, aromatherapy, myofascial
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Systems of the body
  • CPR included
  • MBLEx exam prep
  • Client consultation
  • Ethics
  • State law and regulations
  • Business Fundamentals
  • Massage table package

What made you interested in massage education?

As a Cosmetology school, we believe it is a perfect compliment.  Our tagline is “Where Beauty & Wellness Meet”.

When is your next enrollment event?

We do not have enrollment events, but we welcome you to come in to visit with us and maybe spend a day sitting in on a class to determine if this is the career for you. Student-applicants then come in for one-to-one interviews.

What’s something you’d like to highlight about your program?

We are proud that our Student Clinic was voted runner-up for Best Massage by Clipper Magazine readers. We came out ahead of most of the spas with licensed massage therapists.  See how you can join one of the Best Of.

Thank you, Debbie, for taking the time to chat with us and for your continuing support and contribution to Hand & Stone’s exceptional team of professional massage therapists!
